Education during the time of COVID-19

While schools have reopened in BC, COVID-19 has changed how students are educated and is further exacerbating socioeconomic gaps in education’s socioeconomic divide.

How can we improve the education outcomes for students in BC amidst the pandemic? Will online learning suffice in the long term and can investing in family-based learning contribute to education? What can be done to support children’s education during the pandemic?

Here, we interview Dr. Marina Milner-Bolotin, an expert in Science Education and Professor at the University of British Columbia. She discusses the outlook, challenges, and opportunities for education as our society learns to live with the pandemic. Ultimately, educators, parents, and policy-makers must work together to create new opportunities and innovations in education appropriate for our new normal.
